Are you a student interested in a career in journalism and communications? Do you run or write for a hyperlocal or community news website? Are you a blogger, vlogger or podcaster? Have you recently gone freelance or returned to the sector after a careers break?
If so, please join us for a unique opportunity to get to understand the basics of media law in 2018.
David Banks, one of the UK’s leading media law experts, will deliver a two-hour workshop in partnership with JOMEC/Glyndwr University aimed at equipping you with good working knowledge of the main legal pitfalls involved in publication in print, the web, or broadcast media.
The workshop will cover libel, contempt, reporting the courts, sexual offences, children, privacy & confidentiality and copyright. It is suitable for those with little or no experience in this field.
This workshop will be followed by a Networking Lunch and then a separate afternoon workshop looking in depth at some of the major changes and case-studies in media law over the last 12 months.
