Trainer – Dan Mason
As a creative professional, you need to project your personal brand, service or portfolio. Why? Because it makes you more visible online and it’s the first thing many potential clients look for.
Maybe you’ve wrestled with WordPress and other site builders, but just need a simple solution that looks professional, is easy to manage and is cheap (or even free). This workshop covers a simple approach to establishing your personal brand, and bringing it to life online.
Note: This workshop does not use WordPress, but the core lessons can be applied to any platform. It is a companion to the half-day Introduction to WordPress workshop. Participants may also find the one-hour Fast Skills Friday SEO session a valuable add-on.
Who’s it for?
Journalists and freelancers who want to establish their personal brand online. Previous experience of website building or code is not required.
What will I learn?
During three hours of training you will learn how to:
Establish your niche and goals
Identify your audience (and what they are searching for online)
Set a brand style using colour, fonts, logo and keywords.
Find and buy a good domain name
Source stock images
Build a free one-page personal, service or portfolio website.
What equipment will I need?
A laptop or desktop computer with strong internet connection. It is not possible to complete this workshop using a smartphone or tablet.
The workshop will be delivered on Zoom and participants will be required to register in advance with a free website builder (details to be included with joining instructions). You may need to register with other online tools on the day, so ensure you have easy access to your email account.
