Moving to freelance journalism can be daunting. This one-day course is designed to help those who are thinking about going freelance or have recently done so.

This one day course will give you an insight in to the first steps in freelancing…

It will provide you with practical advice on your first steps as a freelance, including how to win work and negotiate terms. You will find out what you need to do to get from your first freelance commission to your first payment; think up ideas and pitch them; and learn ways to ask for more money.

The course, which is based on two one-day courses run regularly for the NUJ nationally, also includes advice on taking care of your health, setting up an office, IT, marketing, pensions and ideas on how to develop your freelance business once it is up and running.

*Please note – this course is only free to those resident in Wales as we are funded by Welsh Government.
