Making Social Media Work for You

Tutor: Joni Alexander

Learn how to use the web as a ‘super user’. No HTML code required

This workshop puts into practice the skills needed to research, report, distribute and market content through social media. Searching on the web will yield better results. RSS feeds will make you more efficient. Smart phones and their apps will hold new possibilities.

Content:

The day is made up of input and exercises to guide participants through the social media jungle. Participants will learn what’s out there: Google, Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Flickr, YouTube and LinkedIn but we’ll be focusing on skillfully using Twitter, advanced Google tools and Facebook to search for stories, monitor sources and competitors, effectively engage in online communities, and use multimedia to enhance content. You’ll be developing strategies for using social media for work purposes as distinct from personal use.

 Who should attend:

Anyone who wants to improve their understanding of and more effectively use social media to produce better media content and increase their network.
